Join team Anna Cody Racing for the 2010 race season. The team will be racing the SCORE International off road racing series/
The first event of the 3 race series started off on March 12th, the team of Anna Cody, Roger Hurd, Robert Laughlin & Jeff Kawell had a podium finish, finishing 3rd place in the 250 Pro class at the San Felipe 250.
The team is now home from the Baja 500 which was held on June 5th, they finished 2nd in the 250 Pro class, leaving them tied for 2nd place in the points championship, with one more race left to go in the series.
Now with one more race to go the final round will be the granddaddy of all races the Baja 1000 on Nov 18th. The SCORE Baja events are world-renowned as some of the most challenging events in off-road racing, and well attended by racers from many different countries, as well as celebrities and racers from other disciplines.
It only seemed fitting for the team to race and raise money for the Michael J. Fox Foundation, since team racer Roger Hurd is living with Young Onset Parkinson's Disease, but PD is not talking over his life or slowing him down on a motorcycle. Roger joined the team in 2009 and raced last years Baja 1000 finishing 3rd in the 250 CC Pro Motorcycle division.
Roger was diagnosed just over a year ago, but having had symptoms for 7 - 8 years. In the years leading up to his diagnosis, he was not able to race or ride much. Not knowing what was causing his tremors and weakness, he was cautious about riding. Since receiving the diagnosis and working with his doctor to find appropriate medications, he's regained his strength and ability to ride. This has made a big difference in his stress, his life and his ability to accept and cope with PD.
What an inspiration to see someone living with PD tackle one of the most physically demanding and mentally challenging Off-Road Racing events in the world. We hope that this story offers encouragement for people who?s lives have become derailed, rearranged and forever changed through disease/disorders
Please join us in the fight against Parkinson's disease. By supporting our Team Fox efforts, you are helping The Michael J. Fox Foundation achieve its mission to bring better treatments and, ultimately, a cure to people living with Parkinson's disease.
Why Team Fox?
An estimated one million people in the United States and over five million worldwide are living with Parkinson's disease.
In the United States, 60,000 new cases of PD will be diagnosed this year alone.
There is no known cure for Parkinson's disease. Currently available treatments temporarily mask symptoms while the disease continues to progress.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease through an aggressively funded research agenda. MJFF is committed to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. As the largest nonprofit funder of PD research worldwide, MJFF works to identify and prioritize scientific solutions that hold promise to improve patient's quality of life.
Together we can cross the finish line in the race for a cure.
