In asking for contributions you are allowing others to make a difference and sharing the hope of curing Parkinson’s in our lifetime. The Michael J. Fox Foundation is with you every step of the way. Can I register by mail?To request a paper registration form, email your request to teamfox@michaeljfox.org. Be sure to reference Or call 800.708.7644 to request your registration form. Can we sign up as a team?You can fundraise on behalf of a club, organization or group, but you must register as a single member. Incentives and awards are for individual representatives. Who acknowledges my contributors?The Michael J. Fox Foundation will send an acknowledgment for tax purposes to anyone who donates $5 or more to your Team Fox efforts. It is also a good idea to send your own personal thank-you to anyone who responds to your request for support. Share photos or updates of your progress to make contributors feel included in your game plan. When you log on to your Team Fox account, you will be able to see your list of donors who have contributed. How does the Foundation know that a donation is for me?For online credit card payments, contributors can search for your name and donate directly to your personal fundraising Web page. For checks sent through the mail, supporters must include your name and Team Fox reference on the memo line of their check and attached Contribution Form. To avoid confusion, you may ask donors to direct contributions to your personal address first, then forward checks to us in batches or all at once. Can I accept contributions and write The Michael J. Fox Foundation one check from my personal account?We don’t recommend this method. If you deposit donations into your personal account, the What if a check is made out to me, not to The Michael J. Fox Foundation?If a supporter makes the check payable to you, simply endorse the check with your signature and "Payable to MJFF" and submit it with a Contribution Form. What should I do with cash donations?It’s never safe to mail cash. Have cash donors fill out a Contribution Form with their contact information and donation amount. Transfer the cash into a cashier's check and send us both the check and the form. What is a matching gift, and how can it help my fundraising efforts?Many companies offer employees a matching gift benefit that doubles (or in some cases, triples) your gift. By participating in these programs, you and your supporters can significantly increase the impact of your contribution on the fight to cure Parkinson's. Contact your human resources or finance department to see if your company has a matching gift program, taking note of any possible restrictions. Fill out the proper forms, and then send your paperwork with donations to The Michael J. Fox Foundation. Remind your donors that their companies may have matching gift programs too. Can I be reimbursed for my fundraising expenses?The Michael J. Fox Foundation cannot reimburse you for your fundraising expenses. To keep your expenses down, consider asking local businesses for in-kind donations in exchange for advertising on your flyers, brochures, letters, t-shirts and other event materials. Because in-kind donations to your event do not directly benefit The Michael J. Fox Foundation, we cannot provide tax receipts for these contributions. Can Michael J. Fox make an appearance at my event?Michael is deeply grateful for the efforts of our Team Fox fundraisers and wishes he could be part of every event raising funds and awareness for PD research. But in spite of his larger-than-life image, Michael is just a person (with a family, an extremely busy schedule and an overwhelming number of requests for his time). For this reason we are unable to fulfill requests for Michael to personally attend Team Fox events. Thank you for your understanding. Can I use The Michael J. Fox Foundation logo on my fundraising materials?Our Team Fox logo was specifically designed to help members achieve a branded, polished look for their letters, flyers, event programs and other event materials. Read our Logo Guidelines for more specific information and to request the Team Fox logo for your fundraising needs. Team Fox members may not use the logo of The Michael J.
